The answer is given!
A 120-g block of copper is taken from a kiln and quickly placed into a beaker of negligible heat capacity containing 300 g of water. The water temperature rises from15°C to 35°C. Given cCu = 0.10 cal/g×°C, and cwater = 1.00 cal/g×°C, what was the temperature of the kiln? answer is 535C i just dont know how they are getting thisanswer

Let the temperature be the temperature of the kiln. Heat gained by water=mcΔT=0. 3*4186*20=25116J (1cal=4. 186J) Heat lost by copper block=mCΔT=0.12*418. 6*(T-35) Heat gained by water=Heat lost by copper block 0.12*418. 6*(T-35)=25116J T=535C
