The answer is given!

A rock is projected from the edge of the top ofa building with an initial velocity of 23.4 m/sat an angle of 34 above the horizontal. Therock strikes the ground a horizontal distanceof 96 m from the base of the building. The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s2 .Assume: The ground is level and that theside of the building is vertical. Neglect airfriction.the horizontal component of the rocks velocity is 19.4 m/sWhat is the vertical component f the rock’s velocity when it strikes the ground?Answer in units of m/s

the horizontal component of the rocks velocity is 19. 4 m/s hence the time of flight = 96/19. 4 = 4. 94845 s initial vertical velocity ,u= 23. 4*sin34 = 13. 08511 m/s acceleration due to gravity = -9. 8 m/s2 final velocity , v = u + at = 13. 08511 - 9.8*4. 94845 = -35. 4097 m/s hence the vertical component of rock's velocity = 35. 4097 m/s downwards
